[FitDream] Are you making one of these 2 mistakes?

Hi !                                                                                                    October 27, 2011

You know, Booty Camp started this week.

And I always know it's going to be a good one when Booty Campers jump in right away with questions, challenges, wins, and basically spill their guts from the get go.

Just between us, putting it out there with honest truth is THE pathway to answers, assistance, progress, and faster success.  Go team go!

No wonder, then, that I was all over this question posted by Barb (gorgeous photo, right) on Day 1, shared here today for the benefit of us all, and I couldn't wait to share it with you.  With Barb's permission, of course!

Oh, and I've got to tell you!  Remember when Julieanna Hever, the Plant-based Dietitian, was on my Teleclass series last summer? Well, this week she hits the airwaves again on the Dr. Oz show.  Details below.

Check out "In Case You Missed It" below for any posts on the blog you might have missed this week.

Thanks for being on this healthy, happy & fit journey with me!
P.S.  Remember this month's Teleclass with Chef AJ is tomorrow, Wednesday, October 26.  Sign up at HERE and get 3 free bonus audios to get you started. And if you can't come to the call sign up anyway and I'll send you the recording.

2 huge eating mistakes women make when trying to lose weight and what to do about it

Reverse these eating mistakes with simple solutions and watch your weight loss success soar

Starving by lunchtime?

This just in from Barb...

Hi Lani & fellow booty-campers,

Today I tested out my new behavior at lunchtime but I did have a small struggle. This happens to me frequently at lunchtime and at dinnertime.

I wasn't prepared at home (first no no) so I drove down to Whole Foods already starving. I tried to think of what would be best and I ordered a cup of split pea (vegan) soup and a cup of brown rice. It tasted great & I think it was pretty healthy but I was still really hungry.

This happens to me a LOT....and when it happens, then I don't know what to eat to curb that hunger. I came home and had some carrot sticks with hummus but that didn't really do the trick either.

Maybe I'm not eating enough when I sit down and that's why I'm hungry? My two biggest times when this is a problem is during my work day and then right when I get home from work. If I'm starving right after lunch, then all I can think about is food and I usually end up eating something that I shouldn't.

If I come home from work and I want to workout but I'm already totally starving, I will eat whatever I can find. What are some good things to have on hand that you could pretty much eat anytime?

Thanks for your ideas, Barb

Before going any further, I asked  Barb to share what she'd eating earlier in the day.  I had my suspicions that is wasn't much.

More common than you might think

Here is Barb's response to my question about what she'd eaten earlier in the day.  Perhaps you'll recognize yourself.

Lani,

Thank you for responding. I'm embarrassed to say that this morning, I only had a half of a cantaloupe and that's because I was feeling guilty about eating too many pita chips yesterday!

There again, yesterday I got stuck being out and about and by the time I ate something, I just went crazy. Usually, though, in the mornings before I go to work, I will have a cup of oatmeal...and that's good until around 10am and then I start to feel really hungry.

Any suggestions?   ~ Barb

Look Barb, half a cantaloupe might last me half an hour in the morning and then I need something rib sticking. No wonder you were ready to eat anything that walked by by 10 a.m.

2 huge eating mistakes women make when trying to lose weight and what to do about it

1)  Mistake #1:  Making up for yesterday. This is also known as 'the starve after the stuff' and is good in theory.  In practice, not so much.  Barb can tell you all about that.

Solution:  Reverse the 'feel guilty' by being pro-active the next day with a good breakfast as soon as you are ready for it. The days are over for starving after a stuffing because you just end up getting over hungry later on when you are least prepared with good food available and....well, I don't have to tell you. It drives us straight into another bag of chips.

The last thing you want to foster is being punitive with your food.  Think cultivate and nurture instead. Get that oatmeal in early on. Use rolled old fashioned or steel cut and eat until you are satisfied.

2)  Mistake #2:  Scheduling your meals with your head instead of letting your body lead the way.

Solution:  If you get hungry again later in the morning, so what? Eat! Keep your food supply full of fiber, free of expelled oils and high fat foods, full of color, and let appetite be your guide.

I know it is scary stuff going in. But it works. Keep at it. It'll get easier. Use the 3 rules of satiety that are critical to weight loss on your way to becoming naturally thin to speed your success.

Barb, you've made a difference for more women today than you can imagine by courageously stepping out with these challenges and I promise you you are not alone and these are more common obstacles to weight loss success than you can imagine.  Thank you for bringing forward the chance to shine the light on them!
