When was the last time you heard your workout buddy say:
 
"Hey, I can't meet for our walk today because I've been burning way too many c*alories lately.  I need to conserve!  I'll be putting  in some serious couch potato time instead.".
 
We laugh, because everybody knows we want to burn those calories and find the.easiest way to do it. 
 
And we also know that having more muscle helps when it comes to burning more calories all day, every day.
 
But how does that really work anyway?  And how much "burn"?  Full skinny today.

How many more calories do you burn with each added pound of muscle on your body? 

 
We all agree on one thing.
 
Everyone - in our affluent,  overfed society anyway - wants to burn calories at a premium.  Keep those babies flying off!
 
We don't even engage in debate about whether we want to up our calorie burn or not.  We just do, am I right?
 
 
And we all agree on something else: More muscle on your bod means a better burning calorie machine.
 
Really?  And exactly how many more calories DO you burn with each added pound of hard won muscle on your body?
 

In my mailbox this morning, Kelly asks:

Lani, I keep hearing that if I have more muscle that my metabolism will speed up and I'll burn more calories every day.  But I keep hearing different numbers and get confused about what that really means.  Can you tell me how many more calories I will burn every day with each added pound of muscle?
