I’d like to introduce you to Miranda Bre. This girl owns thousands of dollars’ worth of kitchen equipment, studied integrative nutrition and worked as a wellness spa director for 5 years before she became a psychiatric RN. You know what’s funny? She came to me recently and shared to me vulnerably that she believes that all her struggles with losing weight were related to emotional eating and food
addiction, and then she laughed and said “And I work with addicts every single day.”
The next thing she said was “Wow, I bet there are millions of people struggling with their weight out there like me who would benefit from learning about the science behind addiction and how it relates to their relationship with food!”
I know Miranda values optimum health and desired to eliminate processed foods and eat more plants. She believes that eating a lot more fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds and eating less of everything else is evidence based and a place where every healthy diet meets. She also hates dietary dogma, so she refused to label her goals with a Tweetable title. She doesn’t want to polarize, she just wants to nourish her body
and end her struggle with food.
Meanwhile, she was avoiding taking action because she was lost in the fog of perfectionism that left her always planning, never doing or being. She was perseverating on her body shame because she was living so out of alignment with her values for optimum health. She avoided integrating the wisdom of her body because she was paralyzed by constant cravings, horrible pot luck meals at work in the healthcare industry, and
invalidating the value she might be able to share with the world because of her weight. She was even considering weight loss surgery because her struggle with food and change was and is real.
The next thing may surprise you. She decided that she wasn’t going to wait until she changed her life to start helping people get this message. She is kind of a rebel like that. After realizing that she, in fact, does love herself and her body, even though she is overweight, she said this. “I want people to know that they can love themselves now, AND also desire to nourish and transform their body.” “This is body
positivity.”
She didn’t want to hide until “her transformation was complete”. She wanted to inspire others with her journey of coming into alignment, losing the addiction, losing the perfectionism, losing the shame and allowing herself to Heaven forbid, be a beginner at integrating what she already knew intellectually. She wanted YOU to know that you are just fine right where you’re at.
She’s so excited about this that she created a F*REE online event and she asked me to come teach with her and thousands of others about the science of "food addiction" and how to change. She has interviewed over 2 dozen experts, including neuroscientists, physicians, health coaches and/or regular people who have won their battle over emotional eating and food addiction by embracing a diet high in nourishing plant foods.
