Although part of my practice is to learn to navigate aversions so that they do not lead to disquieting states, I must admit that my discomfort with weight loss stories is challenging my practice.
These stories come into view daily, sometimes multiple times a day.
It’s not that I think that weight loss per se is a bad thing. Or that some people wouldn’t benefit from it, or want it.
But
it’s the emphasis on weight loss as the goal when I know from (decades) of experience that unless a holistic approach of creating more space around reactivity, eating plenty of good food when you are hungry so you don’t store hunger (and fan the flames of craving), move your body, and let the body find its own naturally healthy weight, that you are more often that not doing a couple of things that become problematic...
Where to start when transitioning to a plant-based diet, and how to make the transition as smoothly as possible so it feels like a natural progression rather than a sudden change or an exercise in deprivation. Delicious,
nutritious substitutions for your favorite foods so you don't feel deprived as you strive for better health. Tips for socializing, dining out, and traveling while successfully living a plant-based lifestyle so you can go out and enjoy yourself without getting derailed. Click HERE for

May all be healthy and happy,
P.P.S. I will be at UC Davis in Davis, California, on Wednesday evening February 7 to speak on campus. More details below!
