Hi , Chances are, if you preordered The Mindful
Vegan, your copy has arrived - or will any day now! Special thanks to everyone who has excitedly written to tell me their copy is in
hand. Many are even posting snapshots, such as this one (above) from Andrea Ivins.
This week I was interviewed at the local NPR station all about The Mindful Vegan. Air date is November 3! I'll send you the deets
and link closer to air date.
The Plant Yourself Podcast with Howard Jacobson and yours truly as guest just went live on the PYP website. As per Howard's program notes, in our conversation about The Mindful Vegan we covered, among other things: - why this book - and why now
- the problem
with mindful eating books and programs that don't start with the nature of the food itself
- Lani's three pillars to healthy, happy living
- the watershed moment at a 10-day silent retreat
- our habit of
reactivity and automatic thought and impulse: the missing 9th planet
- the significance of the fact that our positive brain states are endogenous (internally generated}
- Dean Ornish, MD, on not having to look outside ourselves
- what mindfulness is (and isn't – much to Howard's relief)
- how many of us use food as a refuge against disquieting state
- the subtle but huge difference between counting breaths and being aware of the sensation of breat
- how vegans can skillfully manage their own reactivity around other people's food choices
- “we don't change because of shame or blame”
- “we all have advocacy in our heart” (the question is, what's the most effective way to
express it?)
- the problem with self-labeling as a food or sugar addict
- the secret to weight management: overeating is triggered by undereating
Want to join The Mindful Vegan Launch Team? Many readers and friends have reached out to me to ask how they could assist in spreading the word about book launch. And to that end, my publisher has put together a spectacular collection of graphics and text phrases to use on social media in emails - anywhere! If you'd like to help out, simply reply to this newsletter or email me at lani@lanimuelrath.com and
I'll send you everything you need. The more the merrier and we are having a good time with celebrating launch! Hope you'll join us.
Sunday October 8 I'll be in Rocklin, California (near Sacramento) at the spectacular vegan restaurant ZEST. Arrive at 10 , order brunch, and I start in with all the goodies and inside scoop of The Mindful Vegan at 10:45! This place is spectacular, the crowd unmatched for fun (maybe it's all the good food!) and I am very happy to be returning with copies of The Mindful Vegan in hand.
Ellen Jaffe Jones will be hosting me as her guest on a facebook live this Wednesday, October 11, starting a little before noon Pacific time, which is a listtel
before 3 Eastern. Simply pop into Ellen's facebook page Eat Vegan on 4 dolla*rs a day and watch for us to pop up in a window!
Book signing and reading at Book Passage Corte Madera set for October 14! This prestigious venue is the apple of any author's eye, this one included. If you are in or around Marin County, California - or know anyone there - please come, bring your friends! PLUS Miyoko's Kitchen is co-sponsoring the event so we'll be serving vegan cheese samples after the presentation! No need to sign up, but it would be great if you could let me know if you plan to come HERE and how many in your party - it will help us plan how much cheese to bring!
PCRM 21-Day Vegan Kickstart is underway - and it's not too late to join in the fun. Simply sign up here for daily support, recipes, health and meal ideas, and more. PLUS The Mindful Vegan and yours truly are official Kickstart partners for October.
Hope to see
you soon!
Here's to a kinder, more spacious world for all.
Love, Lani
P.S. My dear friend and mentor Neal Barnard, M.D. - who
you know know is also a rock musician with his band CarbonWorks - has a new CD out! You can find the CD on Amazon here.
P.P.S. The video recording of How to Break Stress Eating Habits and Cut Through Cravings With Mindfulness that was the topic in a facebook live event with Jill Ann McKeever for her Plant-Based Lifestyle support group has now found a home as an article on my blog, making it easier to find and retrieve. The response to this conversation has been nothing short of astonishing. If you were one of the people who wrote to me to tell me how much this
resonated with you, once again, thank you. It means the world to me to hear a response to something close to me that is published.

One of the most respected people on the planet to me is Rae Sikora. This review of The Mindful Vegan Book that she posted on Amazon is author died-and-gone-to -heaven stuff. Thank you, Rae |
