Hi ,

I know, it's been awhile since I've written to you. I apologize for the gap between visits - once July got underway with Vegetarian Summerfest in PA, it has been one event after another with the main event being the book manuscript.

I'm on a tight schedule with due date end of October.  That may sound like a long time away, but I have several bookings between now and then PLUS I need plenty of time to play in this beautiful summertime.  My brain works best when I get daily walks and bike rides in the woods.  Nature the big healer and restorer!  Exercise the brain builder!

So much to tell you about - and several exciting upcoming opportunities to move your journey forward.  I usually keep my newsletters brief, but this is going to be the exception because I want you to know about all of them.  And just maybe we'll meet soon!

First, many highlights from Summerfest - one in particular getting to know Jonathon Balcombe (photo right), best selling author of What a Fish Knows. Just a couple of weeks before Summerfest I had heard Jonathan speak on Terry Gross' Fresh Air about the intelligence of fish.  As a long time scuba diver, I knew what he was talking about. Jonathon is director of animal sentience for the Humane Society Institute for Science and Policy - and I had no idea he was going to be presenting at Summerfest!  What a treat.

I'll add a few more snapshots from Summerfest below.

I've had some other profound opportunities this summer.  In June I attended a week long Mindfulness Meditation Facilitator's Retreat at Spirit Rock and came away with a full container (figuratively speaking!) of ideas for the new book.

Another highlight was a long weekend sister's getaway with my two sisters.  I'm the middle child, way out here in California.  One of my sisters is in Washington, another in Connecticut, and we get together at least once a year to catch up, always a blast. This year we indulged in a spa girl getaway in Napa, Ca. Too much fun.

Just maybe I'll get to see you in the weeks ahead?  Next Monday I leave for Hawaii for a week of presenting for the Vegetarian Society of Hawaii.  I'll start with the Oahu group, and then on to Maui for some radio and to meet everyone there. They are very excited to hear more about The Plant-Based Journey - as I am to talk about her. Surf's up!

Later this month I'll be presenting at Get Healthy Sacramento with Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, Dr. Michael Klaper, Chef AJ and more. See the flyer below. I think there still may be a few tickets left and I'd love to see you there.

Early in September Plant-Pure Nation is having an online summit . I'll be presenting and and you're invited!  Wait til you see the lineup of speakers at this no-cost event. Campbell, Barnard, Davis, Freston, Hever, Moran, Schinner...holy cripes it goes on and on.  Click here to see the lineup and sign up.

And if you're an east coaster, I'll be presenting for PCRM in Washington D.C. on September 16 and then on to Baltimore for Eat Well Stay Well Immersion with Drs. Neal Barnard, Michael Greger, Joel Fuhrman, Chef Del Stroufe, Sharon Klupt McRae - heavens, what a lineup!  It may be time to break down and replace my Old Navy skirt collection. Too bad I don't like to shop!

Love, light and happiness on your journey this week - and welcome to August!

Lani

P.S.  I just remembered something else. Rip Esselstyn and gang are having an extraordinary seven day retreat 2 Forks Immersion in Sedona in October.  I won't be presenting at this one, but they want to extend a special offer to my friends and readers-  $150 Off Immersion using code: LANIVIP150. Visit 2ForksEvents.com to find out more and register. It looks heavenly and quite deluxe!
