Cosmetic Procedures: Does this count?

Hi ,

“Have you had work done?”

As I approach “when I’m 64”, I find this question is being asked of me more and more at my presentations.

My response?

If the skin resurfacing, scars and scratches on my left arm from last year’s tossed-by-a-warthog incident in Africa counts, then the answer is “yes”.

Same with the abrasions still visible on my back, over six months after this incident. I told you a bit about this incident in a a previous post on the warthog event – yet now Greg has edited the video clips from the day to tell more of the story and mixed it with some other priceless footage from our last journey to Africa.

You'll find it as the freshest entry on the blog, just published here:

The Vegan Iron Chef All-Stars competition in San Francisco, which I was invited to emcee, was more fun than I imagined - even though the poor chefs had to endure several power outtages while cooking!  It also meant a lot of quick thinking on my own feet, as some time periods were extended, people wondered what was going on (as if I knew!) and luckily I had lots of prizes, plant-based trivia questions, even sang a bit!  The chefs were the pros you would expect and didn't skip a beat.

Video footage from the event should eventually be edited for the web, and I'll be the first to let  you know when it's ready so you can see some of the spectacular dishes these chefs  created - and take a peek behind the scenes how they did it.  I'm such a simple and lazy cook, I was repeatedly astonished at what they were putting together - and in such short time!  Stay tuned. A couple of snapshots (below) for now to give you an idea.

Another big takeaway from this event was making new friends that I've know about but haven't met in person before.  One of these was the delightful Dustin Harder, aka The Vegan Roadie.

Dustin was one of the three judges at the tasting table.  Too much fun for words, you can catch up with Dustin and his Vegan Roadie video clips here. After the success of Vegan Roadie Season One, Chef Dustin Harder is crowdsourcing funds for Season Two promising to highlight even more culinary innovators around the country while adding an exciting hands on and personal experience to his viewers along his journey.

May today and your week be filled with happiness, health and well-being!

Snapshot from the action! That's the lead videographer at left, and in the green and black apron next to me Chef Lisa Books-Williams, 2013 Vegan Iron Chef winner and thus here for the championship round. Flanking Lisa and myself are Lisa's sous chefs, busy at work!
I'll let you know when I have the videographer's final cut.
