Hi !
Jambo! That's Swahili for 'hello') from equitorial Africa!
There’s already so much to tell you about this, our second journey to Africa, in just as many years.
My husband Greg and I had come to Kenya a year ago to fulfill a growing draw to encounter the exotic, other-worldly African wildlife.
Years of service as teachers of environmental science and
multiple excursions into the wild as volunteer field biologists drew us here as well. Moments into that safari experience just twelve months ago, we were hooked on Africa.
Back to the elephant orphanage
On our first trip to Kenya a year ago, we visited the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust near Nairobi on no less than four occasions.
This
gave us multiple opportunities to spend time with our first foster child, Mbegu, then a young five months old.
Well, Mbegu (there's even a recipe in The Plant-Based Journey named after her!) is now seventeen months old.
You'll get to see video of Mbegu eating her lunch of coconut milk - Greg filmed while I did did a short intro to give you proper introduction to Mbegu.
See the video AND snapshots from my warthog tossing....
That' right. And it was I, not the warthog, that was tossed - just in case your wondering!
I've got to run - Greg's calling from the trail to the elephant orphanage and I've still got to layer on sunscreen and fill my water bottle!
More soon, but til
then...
See you there!
So happy to be on this journey with
you,
Lani
