Personal Note From Lani

Hi ,

Yep, I confess.  I'm a foodie. I love to eat.

And it doesn't have to be fancy.  So I guess I'm not a
"serious foodie" as my friend Carie has described another friend.

I don't drool over recipes.  As a matter of fact, if a recipe has more than 5 ingredients my eyes usually glaze over and I turn the page.

Unless I'm in a serious domestic mood.

So if you, like me, enjoy simple yet delicious fare, then just maybe you'll enjoy today's feature articles.

It's a beYOUtiful Fall morning here.  Off to fire up the waffle iron for the morning mochi and then a brisk walk in the woods!

3 favorite, energizing, fat-busting breakfasts

by Lani Muelrath, M.A.

It's been proven time and time again.

A solid, nutritious breakfast can:

    * stabilize blood sugar through the day

    * ward off overeating as the day goes on

    * eliminate cravings for sweets

    * for the above reasons, be a powerful part of a weight loss or fat loss plan

And for the same reasons, no discussion of anything to do with diet and nutrition is complete unless it includes breakfast.

What if you don't like to eat breakfast?

Let me answer this question with a question.  Or two.

1)  Do you have a weight problem?

2)  Do you tend to eat more food late in the day and into the evening?

If you answered "Yes" to either of the above questions, then your habit of not eating breakfast may just be part of the problem.

Learn to love your veggies for lasting weight loss

by Lani Muelrath, M.A.

My friend Kathie hates veggies.

Vegetables.

Pretty much anything green.  The less color, the better, seemingly.

Iceberg lettuce, tomatoes are OK.  But not on a sandwich.

Heaven forbid. She'll yank them out of a subway sammy so fast it will give you lunchtime whiplash.

Heck, she won't even eat raisins in cookies, which along with the rolled oats is about the only redeeming factor in my Aunt Jo's Oatmeal Cookies.

Kathie  is also a good 70 lbs overweight.
