Personal Note From Lani

Hi ,

Yes, I've fallen face first into frosting on more occasions than I care to remember.

And back in my "dieting" days, it was more often than not.  The street signs (pictured above) brought it all back into focus;  I spill the beans in today's Feature Article.

More musings and reporting this week on my column at Examiner. com;  I've linked to these articles for you in the sidebar at left if you'd like to take a look at these topics.

The Muscles, Mud, and Merlot Retreat
in Napa Valley, California, is just 2 weeks out!  Remember, there are new "day trip" options if you can only get away for a session or two.  If you want to upgrade your T-Tapp or see more of my body-shaping antics in FitDream Fusion, this is the perfect opportunity.  Coming?

Hearts, hugs and stars
P.S.  A special thanks to Cindy Root and all her instructors and staff at Bar Method Marin who have been graciously and tenaciously tweaking my Bar Method form these past two weeks in class.  You are pros, an inspiration, and completely awesome!

The (American woman) Omnivore's Dilemma
by Lani Muelrath, M.A.

You could call it the (American woman) omnivore's dilemma:  the luscious cake with frosting that thick pictured next to the latest diet.  It screams from the magazine covers every single time we hit the checkout stand at market.

Even the cover of Oprah Magazine often pictures delectable desserts next to "how to lose weight over 40" article headlines.  Gadzooks.

It's an oxymoronic juxtaposition that has us all scratching our heads.

The story behind the picture

This set of street signs (pictured above) just down the road where we are visiting in Marin, California, drew us like a magnet for a snapshot to underscore the point.  After driving past it a dozen or more times, we decided we must bring our camera on a downtown walk yesterday so I could strike a quick pose for a picture to post here.

Yup, that's me in front of this landmark set of signs:  the Diet Center right next to "Cake Art".

Hello frosting, it's me, Lani...
