It has been a couple of weeks since we last spoke, and in that time I am happy to report that our dear "wild" turkeys, Smokey and Blue, have settled happily into their new home at the animal sanctuary! They even have a whole new flock - more turkeys, some chickens, ducks not far away....Needless to say, they are healthy and happy and doing well,
and are verrry safe! I visited them two days ago and it is such a joy to see them with more two legged friends than just we humans..
Today I come to your inbox with a different story. No doubt you have heard of the Maasai of Africa, yes? And you have probably got some idea about their traditional diet: meat, milk, blood...maybe some honey and greens and bark!
Difficult to imagine shifting to vegan lifestyle perhaps?
Well, last summer when we returned to Kenya to work with the elephants, we had the special opportunity to meet Jack Lekishon - vegan Maasai warrior. We became friends, exchanged gifts during a short meeting at a bush airport (snapshot above), and have corresponded since.
I knew I wanted to tell you Jack's story. So I sent Jack a series of interview questions to find out more about what this extraordinary, visionary man is doing to advance health, veganism, environmental welfare, and education opportunity for young people - along with
social justice for girls. He does the work of at least a dozen, and when you see his story here you will see what I mean.

I hope to see you there and hear your thoughts.
Thank you for your friendship and support. Your blog comments and emails are deeply appreciated.
May your day be filled with ease,
Love,
Lani
